When the going gets tough…

You’ve been here before.

I write something about how I’m recommitting, and then my blog seems to go radio silent.

I’ve been pondering this cycle I perpetuate, and I can blame it on my personality all I want, but at the end of the day that’s exactly what I preach against!

I look at others in my life who say, “Ugh I really don’t want to do this task.” Next thing I know they’re doing it anyway, whereas I tend to put it off a little longer. I don’t like this about myself, and lately I keep thinking about what I need to do to change.

Have you ever been in a similar situation? Where you want to improve yourself, but you can’t seem to get out of your own way?

Understanding yourself on the most personal level that you can, your weaknesses and strengths, what little piece inside drives you in every decision, is integral in self improvement. It’s deciding to sit down with yourself, truly reflect on the life you live now, picturing the life you want to have, figuring out the steps to get there, and then committing with everything you have.

Self doubt is my worst enemy, and we all have our own thing that slows us down.

I gave a small coaching session at a small business training this week, and something so small lit a fire I didn’t know I needed. It brought the joy and excitement I had when I first became certified. Self doubt feels smaller than before, and thankfully I’m back to telling myself I can do this!

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. As cliche as it is, you really do have to work through the discomfort and find joy in pursuing your dreams. Someday you’ll get there, and every second of discomfort will have been worth it!
